Primary General Information
This year, the students are divided into 10 classrooms: Prep D, Prep/1C, 1/2C, 1/2R, 3M, 3/4P, 4C, 5J, 5/6W and 6E. Every student is fortunate to have the extra support from a teacher's aide in their classroom from the start of school until lunch time.
There are many benefits of single stream and composite classes. Mentoring and cross-age tutoring opportunities can benefit students at both year levels in a composite class, and the range of ability levels across both years can often work to the advantage of many students.
When determining new classes for any year consideration is given to the following criteria: gender balance, friendship groups, sibling rivalry, social relationships, academic abilities, body size, age, specific student needs, parent requests, and past classes. Eventual class allocations for students may not meet every criteria, but hopefully are deemed to be the best mix for all concerned.
All Year 6 students have automatic acceptance into the Heritage College Secondary School.
